Initiatives to Reduce Single-use Plastics at Offices
An ever-growing volume of plastic waste is being released into oceans as a result of improper dumping, etc., causing a serious problem. Toyota has launched various initiatives intended to reduce single-use plastics at offices globally.
Japan (Toyota Motor Corporation)
A special page on the problem of plastics was launched on the company intranet, where posters, and e-learning and other contents are intended to raise awareness throughout the company. Also, the Environmental Affairs Division started the "AIR RE:BAG" project to share shopping bags made from airbags recovered from End-of-life vehicles.

Thailand (Toyota Daihatsu Engineering & Manufacturing Co., Ltd.)
The company has set a target of zero single-use plastic waste at all offices in its administration by 2022. To achieve this, the company is conducting internal education using videos and encouraging replacement of plastic products with paper. In addition, the company conducted mangrove tree-planting and plastic waste collection activities in collaboration with Toyota group companies in July 2019.

New Zealand (Toyota New Zealand Limited)
Plastic products used at offices and company stores are being replaced with paper. During the Environment Month (June) in 2020, a total of 51 different methods of reducing single-use plastics at home and when shopping were proposed and shared throughout the company.

China (Toyota Motor China Investment Co., Ltd.)
All Toyota affiliates in China participate in volunteer activities to educate the public on zero-waste principles and lifestyles. During the Environment Month (June), environmental initiative posters were displayed for education and employees were encouraged to bring their own lunch to workplaces in order to reduce plastic containers used for delivered foods.

Brazil (Toyota do Brasil Ltda.)
Employees are encouraged to use reusable cups at offices and plants. In addition, environmental ambassadors are selected at each workplace and educational programs on environmental initiatives are conducted. In June 2020, a new project to use waste materials from vehicles was launched.
