Basic Policy

To help realize the future mobility society and enable prosperous lifestyles, Toyota is working on a wide variety of initiatives that extend beyond automotive manufacturing. Our activities encompass helping people to connect with greater freedom, building environmentally friendly communities, developing living-support robots, and sponsoring sport events including the Olympic and Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020. Through collaboration with governments, local communities, business, and academia, Toyota is committed to realizing a sustainable society for the greater happiness of all.

Olympic Games, Paralympic Games

Sport gives people courage and inspiration. The Olympic Games and Paralympic Games possess a unique power to enrich the lives of people and society centered on sports. Toyota shares the vision and philosophy that the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games strive to achieve, and we became an Official Worldwide Olympic Partner of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and an Official Worldwide Paralympic Partner of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) in 2015. Via the provision of sustainable mobility and other initiatives, Toyota is keen to contribute to a better world, and a society characterized by peace and equality.

Special Olympics

We became a National Partner of the Special Olympics Nippon Foundation (SON) in January 2016. In November 2017, Toyota entered into an agreement with Special Olympics (SO) International to become a Global Partner from 2018, and we have been supporting SO's activities and national tournaments that support people with intellectual impairments to participate in sport.

The Role of Robots in Achieving Mobility for All

At Toyota, we use industrial robot technology for a variety of applications based on our dedication to "Supporting human life activities and living in harmony with people." Since 2004, we have developed partner robots focused on support for people unable to move on their own, including the aging population. Now, as we transform into a mobility company, we are expanding our robotics efforts to provide all people with the freedom to move.

Assisted Mobility Vehicles

As Japan enters into an unprecedented period defined by an aging society, government policy is shifting toward home-based medical treatment and nursing care. As a result, there is growing need for assisted mobility that is easy-to-use in the home environment. We named our assisted mobility vehicle "Welcab," wishing to contribute to happy lives for our customers. Our goal is to make vehicles that are comfortable, safe, simple, and easy-to-use. We strive for our vehicles to deliver the freedom of movement to elderly people and people with impairments, and to accommodate the needs and wants of caregivers.

Agriculture and Biotechnology Business

To contribute to solving global problems like global warming, energy-related issues, and food-related challenges, in addition to the automotive business, Toyota believes in the need for new business that contributes positively to the environment. We are conducting R&D in a variety of fields and creating a structure for new businesses to fulfill this objective.
