Toyota-backed Athlete Wins Gold at Sochi Paralympics
Representing Germany, paralympian Andrea Eskau, whose sit-ski sled was co-developed by Toyota Motorsport GmbH (TMG), has won her first gold medal in the women’s 6km biathlon (sitting) on March 8 at the Paralympic Winter Games in Sochi. Toyota's relationship with Andrea Eskau began in 2011 when the Cologne-based TMG cooperated on a seat insert for her double gold medal-winning performance in the cycling at the London Paralympics in 2012
TMG implemented its advanced composite technology, honed in Formula 1 and at the Le Mans 24 Hours, to develop a cutting-edge sled to help Andrea in her quest for gold medals in Sochi. Andrea is also scheduled to compete in the women's 1km sprint and 5km cross-country skiing and the 10km and 12.5km biathlon this week.
