Cumulative Toyota Production in Taiwan Tops 2 Million Mark
Toyota City, Japan, May 31, 2012―Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) announces that Kuozui Motors, Ltd. (Kuozui), its production affiliate in Taiwan, held a ceremony at its Chung-Li Plant in Zhongli, Taiwan on May 30 to mark cumulative vehicle production of two million units* in Taiwan.
Regarding the achievement, Kuozui president Haruaki Hoshino said: "As a result of the close collaboration with our associates to make vehicles that please consumers, we have reached the remarkable milestone of cumulative production of 2 million units in Taiwan. In February of this year, we began production of the 'Camry Hybrid', the first hybrid vehicle to be produced in Taiwan, and hope to continue bringing joy to people through our products."
TMC established Kuozui as its first vehicle production base in Taiwan in 1984. Production of the "Dyna" commercial-use truck commenced at the Chung-Li Plant in 1986, and the construction of the company's second production base, Kuan-Yin Plant, was completed in 1995. In 2009, Kuozui Motors began producing the "Corolla" for export to the Middle East.
