Toyota to Boost Jobs at U.S. R&D Center

New Office Opens in Silicon Valley

 

Toyota City, Japan, April 5, 2012―Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) announces that Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing North America, Inc. (TEMA), TMC's R&D and manufacturing coordination subsidiary in the United States, will boost jobs at its research and development center, the Toyota Technical Center (TTC), by approximately 150 jobs by the end of this year, with an additional boost of approximately 100 jobs by the end of 2017. The majority of the new employees will be assigned to TTC's Ann Arbor and Saline facilities in Michigan.

In addition, TEMA opened a new TTC office on April 2 at Toyota InfoTechnology Center, U.S.A., Inc. in California's Silicon Valley. The new office is to build partnerships with Silicon Valley companies and accelerate the development of in-vehicle multimedia technology.

With North America an important market for its sustained growth, TMC is committed to continuing the design, planning, evaluation and other development of its vehicles and components in America to enable ongoing delivery of products that meet a wide variety of specific consumer needs.
