Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada to Raise 'RAV4' Production Capacity

Toyota City, Japan, March 28, 2012―Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) announces that Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada Inc. (TMMC), TMC's vehicle manufacturing subsidiary in Canada, will increase "RAV4" crossover production capacity at its plant in Woodstock, Ontario to meet increasing demand in North America. In early 2013, RAV4 annual production capacity at the plant is to increase from 150,000 vehicles to approximately 200,000 vehicles.

Investment in the increase and to meet supplier-related needs is to total approximately 80 million Canadian dollars, with approximately 400 new jobs planned.

The RAV4 was launched in Japan and Europe in 1994, then in China in 1995 and in North America in 1996. As of February this year, approximately 4.3 million RAV4 vehicles have been sold worldwide, with approximately 1.8 million units sold in North America alone.

TMC will continue to promote localized production based on the concept of producing vehicles where the demand exists.
