Toyota Russia to Add Production Processes to St. Petersburg Plant
Toyota City, Japan, February 2, 2012―Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) announces that Toyota Motor Manufacturing Russia (TMMR), its vehicle production subsidiary in Russia, plans to add stamping and resin-molding processes to its vehicle production plant in St. Petersburg.
The new processes are to be added to TMMR's current welding, painting, and assembly processes to further promote localization in Russia, a market that promises continued sustained growth. TMMR President Yoshinori Matsunaga said: "This decision is the result of high consumer evaluations of TMMR-produced 'Camry' vehicles. The added production processes, while contributing to the development of industry in St. Petersburg, will also serve as an important step in expanding the future of Toyota production." Scheduled to go into operation in 2014, the production processes are to be backed with an additional investment of approximately seven billion yen.
Based on its founding philosophy of contributing to society through the manufacture of automobiles, TMC plans to carry out business that contributes to Russia's economy and the development of its automotive industry.
