TMC to Hold 28th Toyota Youth Orchestra Camp

Toyota City, Japan, December 9, 2011―Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) and the Federation of Japan Amateur Orchestras will jointly hold the 28th Toyota Youth Orchestra Camp at Life Port Toyohashi in Toyohashi City, Aichi Prefecture, from March 28 to March 31, 2012.  On the last day of the camp, participants will put on a special public performance as the Japan Youth Symphony Orchestra to showcase the results of their training throughout the camp.

The camp, sponsored by TMC as part of its social contribution activities, has been conducting an annual four-day study program since 1985 to cultivate and train young1 musicians.  The camp is also open for observation.

Under the motto "working under our own steam", leading professional musicians instruct young musicians from amateur orchestras across Japan, providing participants with not only performance-related skills, but also the opportunity to experience the satisfaction of achieving personal goals and to learn the importance of teamwork―all of which can be employed in their music activities.  To date, more than 4,600 people have participated in the camp, with many past participants now active in regional orchestras.

The annual camp runs in a two-year cycle, with a special public performance―held on the last day of the second year―conducted by Tatsuya Shimono2, a younger-generation conductor displaying great promise.  Entry to the concert is free (reservation required).

Applications for free tickets to the final-day concert can be made online at www.jao.or.jp (Japanese). Further information regarding the camp is available at: www.toyota-
