Groundbreaking for the Joint PSA Peugeot
Citroën/Toyota Plant in the Czech Republic

(April 10, 2002) ―Jean-Martin Folz, Chairman of PSA Peugeot Citroën, and Fujio Cho, President of Toyota Motor Corporation, have officially broken ground for their joint plant in Kolin, 60 kilometers east of Prague in the Czech Republic. The ceremony was attended by Czech Prime Minister Milos Zeman, Mayor of Kolin Zdenka Majerova and several hundred guests.

Beginning in 2005, the Toyota Peugeot Citroën Automobile Czech (TPCA) plant will manufacture 300,000 small cars a year, primarily for European markets. The total investment (research & development and business startup costs) is estimated at approximately €1.5 billion.

Masatake Enomoto has been appointed President of TPCA; Jacques de Raismes is Vice President.

Toyota and PSA Peugeot Citroën announced at the ceremony that TPCA would be making a donation of €250,000 to the Kolin Municipal Hospital, demonstrating the two Groups' commitment to actively participating in the life of the region and to enhancing the well-being of its inhabitants. The money will be used to upgrade medical equipment.

The heads of both Groups and other dignitaries planted trees that will grow to become an integral part of the plant's environment. This gesture symbolizes Toyota and PSA Peugeot Citroën's shared commitment to a lasting presence in the Czech Republic.
