Toyota Group Applies to Set Up Pavilion at EXPO 2005 AICHI
Tokyo― The Toyota Group* announced today that it has filed an application with the Japan Association for the 2005 World Exposition to construct a pavilion at the 2005 World Exposition, Aichi, Japan (EXPO 2005 AICHI), which is scheduled to open on March 25, 2005.
EXPO 2005 AICHI is themed around addressing environmental, energy and other issues facing humankind in the 21st century. The Toyota Group, fully aware of the importance Japan places on the exposition, hopes that its participation―as a member of the local business community in the host region―will contribute to the exposition's success.
The Toyota Group is considering centering its exhibits on communicating "the dreams, fun and emotions of 21st century mobility", which it sees as its core business, and incorporating information technology and other themes to present a bright and prosperous future. The group tentatively plans to use its vast environmental know-how to create a pavilion that can be built and operated with minimum impact on the environment and to develop an overall concept aimed at nurturing the younger generation.
In addition, the group will take a look at actively gathering the opinions of both domestic and overseas experts, NGOs and others and reflecting such views in the planning process. Further efforts under consideration include setting up programs in which employees of all group companies―in Japan and abroad―can participate.
*As of March 25, 2002, the following 17 companies intend to participate in the Toyota Group pavilion: Toyota Industries Corporation, Toyota Motor Corporation, Aichi Steel Corporation, Toyoda Machine Works, Ltd., Toyota Auto Body Co., Ltd., Toyota Tsusho Corporation, Aisin Seiki Co., Ltd., Denso Corporation, Toyoda Boshoku Corporation, Towa Real Estate Co., Ltd., Toyota Central Research & Development Laboratories, Inc., Kanto Auto Works, Ltd., Toyoda Gosei Co., Ltd., Hino Motors, Ltd., Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd., Tokai Rika Co., Ltd. and Araco Corp.
