With Social Network Racer, Toyota will use social gaming on social-network site Facebook to provide gamers and auto enthusiasts alike with a unique chance to virtually grab the wheel of Toyota's highly anticipated new sports car. Authored for the recently released Adobe Flash Player 11, Social Network Racer realizes 2D & 3D graphics of unprecedented quality for Facebook gaming.
The first race of the series kicked off October 20 (JST), with the series continuing to the end of December. Racecourses can be customized with the player's data, such as "friends" and "liked" Facebook pages. Buildings adjacent the track are filled with content personalized from the racer's own Facebook wall, profile and photos. Throughout this period, several course record holders will be chosen and given points, which can be used to improve their car's capabilities.
After optimizing their vehicles, racers will have the chance to compete in the Toyota Championship* series of races against other record-holding social network racers from around the globe. The winner of each Toyota Championship race will be entered into a sweepstakes for a chance to win a trip to Japan to witness the unveiling of the production model of the FT-86 II Concept at the Tokyo Motor Show 2011.
