TMC to Display at 38th H.C.R. Show

Toyota City, Japan, September 28, 2011―Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) plans to display seven specially equipped vehicles at the 38th International Home Care and Rehabilitation Exhibition (H.C.R.). The H.C.R. event―the largest of its kind in Japan―is to run from October 5 through 7 at the Tokyo International Exhibition Center (Tokyo Big Sight) in Tokyo.

In response to Japan's aging population, TMC has been developing and marketing vehicles specially equipped to meet the diverse needs of senior citizens and others who might require extra care or support. At the H.C.R. event, TMC will display such vehicles and explain the company's approach to vehicle development.

TMC will exhibit seven Welcab-series vehicles, including the new "Prius α" (Prius Alpha) with Lift-up Front Passenger Seat Type B and the "Vellfire" Friendmatic model equipped with Welride, a first-of-its-kind feature in Japan that allows a person in a wheelchair to board a vehicle with high-positioned seats through remote operation while also providing storage for the wheelchair itself.

TMC will continue to actively engage in the development and provision of vehicles that meet a variety of needs, based on TMC's founding philosophy of fostering a prosperous society through the manufacture of vehicles.
