Cumulative Vehicle Production at
GAC Toyota Motor Co., Ltd. in China Hits 1 Million Mark

 

Guangzhou, China, August 4, 2011―Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) announces that GAC Toyota Motor Co., Ltd. (GTMC), TMC's vehicle-production and sales company established jointly with Guangzhou Automobile Group Co., Ltd. (GAC), held a ceremony today at its plant here to mark cumulative production of 1 million vehicles since production started in 2006.

Attendees at the ceremony included Guangdong Province and Guangzhou City government officials, representatives of GAC, GTMC, TMC.

GTMC was established in 2004 as a base for Toyota-brand vehicle production and sales in China. Production began in May 2006 on Line No. 1 with the "Camry", followed by the "Yaris" in May 2008. Line No. 2 opened with production of the "Highlander" in May 2009, followed by the "Camry Hybrid" in April 2010 and the "E'Z" in June 2011.

TMC will continue to meet the needs of a broad range of vehicle users in China based on its founding philosophy of contributing to society through manufacturing of ever-better cars, and will work to support the development of the Chinese automobile industry by creating jobs and developing human resources.
