Toyota in India to Add Casting and Machining Lines to New Engine Plant

 

Toyota City, Japan, July 27, 2011―Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) announces that its auto-parts manufacturing company in India, Toyota Kirloskar Auto Parts Pvt Ltd (TKAP), plans to install aluminum casting and machining lines scheduled to begin operations in early 2014.

The lines are to be installed at TKAP's new "Etios"1 and "Etios Liva"1 engine plant, which is scheduled to start operations in autumn 2012.  The installation will see an additional investment of approximately 14.4 billion yen as well as the hiring of new employees.

TKAP produces manual transmissions for IMV2 series vehicles produced in India, Thailand and Argentina.  In addition to engines, TKAP is scheduled to start producing transmissions for the Etios and Etios Liva in early 2013.  Exports of the transmissions are also planned.
