First Export of Toyota Avanza

The Start of TMMIN Massive Volume on CBU Export

 

PT. Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia -Toyota’s manufacturing subsidiary in Indonesia-issued the following release on May 17 announcing the start of exports of Toyota Avanza CBU units to Thailand.

Jakarta – PT. Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia today officially announced export activity of Toyota Avanza CBU units to Thailand in a ceremony held at PT. Toyota-Astra Motor’s stockyard – Sunter II, Jakarta.

The Toyota Avanza Export Ceremony is attended by Minister of Industry and Trade, Mrs. Rini M.S. Soewandi; Minister of Japan Embassy, Mr. Yoshitaka Akimoto; Managing Officer of Toyota Motor Corp. (TMC) – Japan, Mr. Akira Okabe; Senior Managing Director of Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd., Mr. Kentaro Shimizu; President Director of PT. Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (TMMIN), Mr. Sachio Yamazaki; and President Director of PT. Toyota-Astra Motor (TAM), Mr. Johnny Darmawan.

Toyota Avanza is a collaboration product between Toyota and Daihatsu in Indonesia to fulfill consumer needs on global quality product at affordable price. Officially launched on January 2004, Toyota Avanza receives enthusiastic response from Indonesian customer. This successful introduction has strengthened resolve to intensively penetrate the overseas market, starting with Thailand.

Toyota has chosen Indonesia to become a global production base for MPV product, and Toyota Avanza with its global quality is ready to be exported to other countries. The progress of AFTA has created more opportunities for business transaction across the region, and TMMIN is determined to export “global quality” Avanza to Thailand by utilizing the AFTA scheme.

Toyota Avanza also fulfill the needs of regional customer for a multi function, easy maintenance, economic and with ample space for more passengers, yet reasonably price and fulfill global quality standard.

In Thailand, the product will use the same brand name as in Indonesia, Toyota Avanza. It is also aimed to create a new segment there. Toyota Avanza come with high-power, high-performance and highly fuel-efficient engines (1.3 liter) and a suspension system that offers a comfortable ride and stable handling. In regards with Thailand government regulation, the export unit of Toyota Avanza will use VVT-i engine, enable them to fulfill the Thailand’s emission standard. Toyota Avanza also meets GOA (Global Outstanding Assessment) safety requirements. Customer in Thailand will be able to choose three different varieties of Toyota Avanza, one with manual transmission and the rest is in automatic transmission.

This export marks the first massive export volume CBU for TMMIN. Starting this month, export planning for Toyota Avanza reaches around 700 units / month or around 8,400 units/ year. Mr. Sachio Yamazaki, President Director of PT. Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia says, “With our export, we look forward to being able to contribute to the nation’s overall economy, and also to the promotion of the growth and development of the Indonesia’s automobile industry”.
