Tianjin FAW Toyota's Plant No. 2 Starts Rolling Off Reiz Sedan
Tokyo ― TOYOTA MOTOR CORPORATION (TMC) today announced that Tianjin FAW Toyota Motor Co., Ltd. (TFTM)* held a line-off ceremony today for the Toyota Reiz (pronounced like "rays" and known in Japan as the Mark X) sedan at TFTM's Plant No. 2, in the Tianjin Economic and Technological Development Zone, Tianjin, China.
Approximately 130 people attended the line-off ceremony, including China FAW Group Corporation (FAW) Vice President Jin Yi, TMC Executive Vice President Yoshimi Inaba, TFTM President Shozo Takemoto and Deputy President Wang Gang, officials from the local government of Tianjin City, representatives of the Tianjin Economic and Technological Development Zone and various dealers.
In his greeting at the event, Inaba said, "I am confident that today's line-off ceremony for the Reiz marks the debut of a vehicle that will be able to bring forth a new set of values for the Chinese market, as a model that emphasizes enhancing the fun of driving."
TFTM began producing, at its Plant No. 1, the Vios compact sedan in October 2002 and the Corolla in February 2004. TFTM also began producing the Crown, in March, at its Plant No. 2, which was completed this year.
