Toyota Displaying Compact Sports Car at New York Show
New York, United States, April 20, 2011―Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) is displaying the "FR-S concept"1, a new-generation compact sports car, at the 2011 New York International Auto Show2
here until May 1.
FR-S concept
The rear-wheel-drive FR-S concept, wearing Toyota's North-America-only Scion badge, is being jointly developed by Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. (maker of the Subaru brand) and TMC―both passionate carmakers.
At the show, TMC announced that direct injection and port injection technologies from its D-4S3 engine are to be adopted in the vehicle's Subaru horizontally opposed engine to create even higher output and even better environmental performance.
TMC plans to sell the production version of the vehicle in the United States under the Scion brand.
