TOYOTA Safety Education Center “mobilitas”

― New Training Facility Set to Welcome General Public―

Tokyo ― TOYOTA MOTOR CORPORATION (TMC) today presented an overview of Toyota Driver Communication driving safety skills courses to be offered to the general public at the TOYOTA Safety Education Center "mobilitas" (pronounced: “mobilita”), set to open on April 10 at Fuji Speedway. Online registration is scheduled to be available from March 1.

Toward realizing an “affluent automobile society” and to contribute to the ultimate goal of achieving zero traffic fatalities and zero traffic accidents, Toyota is promoting comprehensive traffic safety activities from the three-fold perspective of “people”, “cars” and “traffic environment”. Against this backdrop, the TOYOTA Safety Education Center “mobilitas” was created as a dedicated facility to regularly offer Toyota Driver Communication courses, which have been organized since 1987 as part of Toyota’s efforts to enhance traffic safety awareness.

The newly announced courses for the general public consist of “Comprehensive Training” and “Comprehensive Training II”, which were independently developed by Toyota to suit the needs of average daily drivers ranging from beginners to those with vast experience. These courses cover everything from learning more about fundamental vehicle operations to experiencing vehicle dynamics under braking and cornering conditions and understanding the effects and proper usage of safety technologies such as ABS. The courses are aimed at raising the safe-driving level of participants under the watchful guidance of the same instructors who train Toyota's test drivers.

Toyota will also offer a course called “Toyota Racing Driver Meeting”, in which drivers from Toyota's racing teams, who are rated among the best drivers in Japan, will be brought in as instructors to discuss how their know-how gained through racing experience can be applied to safe driving.

Meanwhile, four business and organization-targeted courses announced in October―specifically tailored to general employees or those regularly behind the wheel on business, safe driving program administrators and instructors, etc.―are currently accepting applicants.

Toyota also plans to continue its one-hour Toyota Driver Communication driving safety skills course offered at the MEGA WEB car theme park in the Tokyo waterfront development area ever since the facility opened in 1999.
