New Corolla, Lexus RX400h to Highlight
Toyota's Largest Beijing Motor Show Display
Tokyo ― TOYOTA MOTOR CORPORATION (TMC) announced today that it would display a total of 28 production and concept vehicles at the Toyota and Lexus booths at the 2006 Beijing International Automotive Industry Exhibition (Auto China 2006) to be held at the China International Exhibition Center (Beijing, China) from November 18 to 27. The display would be the largest Toyota/Lexus display ever at the Beijing event.
Auto China 2006 will host the first-ever exhibit of the new Corolla outside Japan, as well as first-ever exhibit in China of the Lexus RX400h (known as the Harrier Hybrid in Japan). The show will also mark a change in the Chinese rendering of the name Corolla from the previous literal translation, "Hua Guan", to the new transliteration, "Ka Luo La".
The TOYOTA i-swing―which proposes a new form of personal mobility that advances driver-vehicle unity―and the Fine-T―which offers the environmental performance of a fuel cell hybrid system and ease of movement through four-wheel independent drive control and a large steering angle―represent, as Toyota's two concept vehicles at the show, Toyota's vision of automotive evolution.
The display will include an environmental and safety section featuring cutaway models of the RX400h and Prius and a post-collision-test Reiz (known as the Mark X in Japan). Touch-sensitive screens will offer explanation of Toyota's GOA (Global Outstanding Assessment) collision-safety body structure and introduce Toyota's other advanced environmental and safety technologies.
