Toyota to Exhibit New Corolla and Yaris at Shanghai Motor Show
Tokyo ― TOYOTA MOTOR CORPORATION (TMC) announced today that it plans to display a total of 31 production and concept vehicles at the Toyota and Lexus booths during Auto Shanghai 2007 (the Shanghai Motor Show) being held at the Shanghai New International Expo Center from April 20 to 28. The display will be the largest Toyota/Lexus display ever at the Shanghai event and will showcase Toyota’s broad product lineup and advanced technology.
In addition to the new Corolla, which will go into production around the middle of this year in Tianjin, a variety of models suited to the rapidly diversifying needs of customers will be on display, such as the Yaris compact vehicle scheduled for production in Guangzhou, the Highlander SUV and the FJ Cruiser.
Along with the Prius, the Lexus booth will display other hybrid models that reduce environmental impact, including the LS600h, GS450h and RX400h.
The LS600h and GS450h, as well as the Yaris, Highlander and FJ Cruiser, will be displayed in China for the first time.
There will also be environment and safety areas that will introduce Toyota's advanced environmental and safety technologies. The environment area will feature cutaway models of the GS450h and the Prius, while the collision-safety body of Toyota's Crown, the first vehicle to receive a five-star safety rating under the China New Car Assessment Program (C-NCAP) safety standards introduced last year, will be on display in the safety area.
At a press conference in Shanghai today, TMC Executive Vice President Yoshimi Inaba expressed Toyota's aim of further contributing to Chinese society: "Toyota is serious about the future of China and will work together with its business partners to diligently realize that future. We intend to continue working on a variety of initiatives to promptly earn recognition as a good corporate citizen."
