Toyota Announces Results for May 2008

 

Tokyo ― TOYOTA MOTOR CORPORATION (TMC) announced today the production, sales in Japan and export results of TMC and subsidiaries Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd. and Hino Motors, Ltd., for May 2008.

SALES IN JAPAN
Toyota
  • First decrease in two months
  • Sales of Lexus vehicles were 1,559 units (25.4% decrease from May 2007)
  • 48.4% share of market excluding minivehicles (1.4% increase from May 2007); record high for the month of May
Daihatsu
  • Second consecutive month of increase
  • Number of minivehicles sold in May 2008 was approximately 49,000 (3.9% increase from May 2007); second consecutive month of increase
  • 35.3% share of minivehicle market (2.3% increase from May 2007); record high
Hino
  • First decrease in two months
  • Number of standard trucks sold was approximately 1,600 (3.1% decrease from May 2007); first decrease in two months
  • 31.5% share of the truck* market (2.3% increase from May 2007)
Toyota + Daihatsu + Hino
  • First decrease in two months
  • 44.2% share of market including minivehicles (1.5% increase from May 2007); record high for month of May

  • Nineteenth consecutive month of increase, due to increased production mainly in Indonesia

  • Seventy-seventh consecutive month of increase; record high for month of May
