Toyota Engineers Inspire Children through Science Workshops

Toyota City, Japan, June 23, 2014―To encourage children to take an interest in science and technology through fun, hands-on demonstrations, Toyota Motor Corporation is once again organizing a series of free-of-charge science workshops in Japan. Between July this year and March 1, 2015, a total of 15 workshops will be held in seven prefectures.

The workshops are part of an annual program that began in 1996, and are held both in public venues (such as science museums) and facilities owned by Toyota and its affiliates. To date, a total of 28,200 elementary school children have taken part in 368 workshops.

Instructors are members of the Toyota Engineering Society, and use their specialized knowledge to teach children about a wide variety of scientific and technological topics, such as vehicle aerodynamics, vehicle-collision safety, hovercraft and more.

Workshops will be held again this year in the Tohoku region as part of the Kokoro Hakobu Project, a Toyota initiative dedicated to assisting the recovery of the Tohoku region following the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011.
