New 'Corolla' Line-off Ceremony Held at Turkey Plant

 

Sakarya, Turkey, July 1, 2013―Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) announces that Toyota Motor Manufacturing Turkey, Inc. (TMMT), TMC's production base in the Republic of Turkey, held a line-off ceremony today for the new "Corolla", now being produced here at its Sakarya Plant.

Attendees at the ceremony included the Turkish Minister of Economy Zafer Cağlayan, the Turkish Minister of Science, Industry and Technology Nihat Ergün; TMC Chairman Takeshi Uchiyamada, Executive Vice President of Toyota Motor Europe NV/SA Takeshi Numa and TMMT President and CEO Orhan Özer.

At the ceremony Uchiyamada said: "The new Corolla, which has been reborn with styling that is more refined and more luxurious, is the new global symbol for our efforts to make ever-better cars. I am very proud that the European version of the new Corolla will call Sakarya its home. Let us continue to write the Corolla's history".

The new Corolla has a refined design with a spacious interior for greater comfort, is equipped with outstanding safety features and provides excellent driving performance. Export destinations for the TMMT-produced Corolla include Europe, North Africa, the Middle East, and Central Asia.

TMMT newly invested approximately 150 million euros to launch the new Corolla, creating roughly 900 jobs for temporary employees.

TMMT now exports its products, the Corolla and the "Verso" family car, to more than 50 countries and regions.
