21ST TOKYO MOTOR SHOW OPENS ON OCTOBER 31ST AT HARUMI PIER
Toyota displays 42 different vehicles, including special exhibition vehicles,
that highlight the latest in automotive engineering
The 21st Tokyo Motor Show opens on October 31st at Tokyo's Harumi Pier and will run until November 10th. At the Motor Show, Toyota is displaying 42 different vehicles: 20 passenger cars (including 6 special exhibition vehicles), and 22 commercial vehicles (including a special exhibition of a prototype intermediate-size bus).
Toyota's theme for its participation in the Tokyo Motor Show is to highlight the Company's positive efforts to solve social problems concerning the automobile. All Toyota exhibits at the Motor Show emphasize this theme.
For example, all the passenger cars Toyota is displaying satisfy Japan's 1975 emission control standards. Toyota developed these vehicles based on careful research into new technology for producing anti-pollution devices that are in balance with all other aspects of the vehicle. In developing this new technology, shown in the vehicles on display, Toyota thus adopted a so-called "compound eye" approach that stresses viewing problems and solutions from many different angles.
Toyota has also included among its exhibitions at the 21st Tokyo Motor Show a special Urban Transport Corner which depicts the results of the Company's latest research to solve traffic congestion, traffic accidents, and other urban transport problems. Shown are highlights of Toyota's award-winning movie, "Urban Transport Around the World," which focuses on recent worldwide efforts to improve urban transportation.
Toyota's 42 different vehicles on display at the 21st Tokyo Motor Show can be viewed at Passenger Car Pavilion No. 2 and at Commercial Vehicle Pavilion No. 1, located on the showgrounds at Harumi Pier. At the Theme Pavilion, sponsored and planned by Toyota Motor Company, moreover, are displayed a special Air Pollution Observation Vehicle and a Toyota Crown which travelled 670,000 kilometers during its life as a taxi.
Moreover, in order to commemorate Toyota's export of its five-millionth vehicle in May 1975 and to stress the Company's motto "good products to and from the countries of the world," the Toyota Maru No. 18, one of seventeen car-carrier ships operated by Toyota, will be docked at Harumi Pier and opened to the general public between 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM on November 8th and 9th.
