TOYOTA ENLARGES EDUCATION AND TRAINING CENTER

Toyota Motor Sales Company, Ltd. is pleased to announce that tomorrow, April 7, it will hold ground-breaking ceremonies for a major enlargement of facilities at its Education and Training Center in Nisshincho, Aichi Prefecture.

TMS considers the training of able personnel for its dealerships a task of vital importance. The first institution to embody this philosophy was the Toyota Sales College founded in 1958. The present Education and Training Center was established in 1974 to provide Toyota managers and salesmen with training in a wide range of fields including parts, lubricants and vehicle rentals and leases, as well as vehicle sales.

The number of trainees who pass through the Center has increased steadily from year to year, reaching 15,500 in 1980; and with the establishment of the new "Vista" dealership channel, the demand for training has outstripped the capacity of existing facilities.

To meet this enlarged demand and to round out the Center's offerings by the addition of service training (now conducted at the Haruhi Center), Toyota has decided to invest ¥3 billion in new facilities. When these are completed the Center will be the largest education and training center in Japan, with 15,900 m2 (instead of 7,300 m2) of floor space devoted to educational activities and 8,600 m2 (instead of 5,600 m2) devoted to trainee housing. It will have 24 (instead of 17) classrooms and housing for 500 (instead of 326) trainees.

Completion is scheduled for the spring of 1982.
