    • The new Celica is offered in six new designer colors, including the sporty, elegant "Evening Gray Metallic," bringing the total number of colors available to 11.
  2. High Performance, Super-Fuel-Efficient Engines with Two-Way Overdrive Four-Speed Automatic Transmissions
    LASRE Engine Series
    • The newly developed LASRE 1S is a 4-cylinder 1,832 cc OHC engine, with maximum horsepower of 100 ps at 5,400 rpm, maximum torque of 15.5 kg·m at 3,400 rpm and minimum fuel efficiency at full throttle of 205 g/ps·h at 3,000 rpm―a winning combination of top performance and fuel economy. The LASRE 1S offers the following exciting new features
      1. A world-first electronic air-fuel mix control system, utilizing an electronic air control valve (EACV) to provide optimum blends of air and fuel, ensuring optimum combustion and greatly boosting fuel efficiency.
      2. New, lightweight designing, including the world's first sintered cam with hollow camshaft, as well as sintered connecting rods, hollow crankshaft and other lighter parts.
      3. Minimal maintenance and noise, resulting from Japan's first 4-cylinder engine equipped with a hydraulic valve lash adjustor, use of a vibration-resistant air filter, mass damper-equipped engine mountings and other sophisticated equipment.
    • The LASRE 1G Engine is a 6-cylinder, OHC 1,988 cc EFI-equipped model, featuring maximum horsepower of 125 ps at 5,400 rpm and maximum torque of 17.5 kg·m at 4,400 rpm. It has already distinguished itself during previous use in the Toyota Mark II, Chaser, Cresta and Soarer.
    High Performance Twin-Cam Engines
    • All models in the new Celica line can also be equipped with Toyota twin-cam engines, noted for their superb power performance. Heading up the selection is the Twin-Cam-6 5M-GEU engine, a 6-cylinder 2,759 cc EFI-equipped model which has earned high praise since its introduction in the Soarer in February this year. The Twin-Cam-6 provides maximum horsepower of 170 ps at 5,600 rpm and maximum torque of 24.0 kg·m at 4,400 rpm.
