TOYOTA UNVEILS NEW CARINA 1500 SG "JEUNE"
TOKYO―Toyota Motor Co., Ltd., and Toyota Motor Sales Co.,Ltd., today jointly announced a brand new addition to the Carina passenger car series―the 1500 SG Jeune. True to its name, which in French means "young," the Jeune is designed to appeal to drivers who are young and young-at-heart. It will be offered for sale throughout Japan.
The new 1500 SG Jeune is a modern, cleanly-designed car combining interior practicality with exterior air-penetrating efficiency. It's a tastefully stylish package sure to be a hit with drivers of any age―and of either sex. The Jeune uses Toyota's proven 3A-U [II] type engine (1452 cc, 83 ps), which in the Carina 1500 has already captured widespread praise for its excellent economy and performance.

- Toyota's exclusive Back Sonar system, which uses ultrasonic waves to detect obstacles to the rear of the car, alerting the driver via a buzzer or lamp (available only in sedan version);
- Tilt-adjustable steering wheel, with six settings available at the flick of a control lever;

- The SG Jeune features a trim, uncluttered exterior design, with red-accented bumpers, sporty striping, black door sashes (sedan only), resin wheel caps and other fine touches.
- Leather seats and a huge array of colors, including a range of dark brown interiors matched with a choice of red, white or light-yellow exteriors.
The new Carina 1500 SG Jeune comes in four different versions, two with a four-speed manual transmission and two with a three-speed automatic.
