TOYOTA INTRODUCES NEW AMBULANCE

A new ambulance model produced by TOYOTA MOTOR CORPORATION went on sale throughout the country on December 9.

Approximately 2,700 Toyota ambulances are now in use in Japan and they contribute substantially to the nation's extensive system of first-aid medical treatment services. They are noted for their outstanding utility and excellent reliability.

The new model is designed to have improved ambulance functions and to be better able to handle the increasing number of elderly patients encountered today.

The new Toyota Ambulance is equipped with a high-performance 3Y engine (1998cc, 105HP/5200rpm), resulting in improved maneuverability and reliability. Interior roominess has been increased and ease of boarding and alighting has been improved to reduce the physical burden for the ambulance attendants. Riding comfort and quietness have also been improved. As with former Toyota ambulances, the new model is officially approved by the Fire Defense Agency. Its major features are as follows.
