  1. Exterior design
The conspicuous features of the Supra's exterior are the sharply slanted front windshield pillars, wide center pillars and curved rear and quarter windows. The Supra's superb aerodynamic design and its flush surface have resulted in a drag coefficient of only 0.32.
  2. Interior
The meters and gauges of the Supra are large and easy to read. The controls and switches are positioned around the steering wheel for easy access.
The steering wheel is a tilt-and-telescopic type with memory. Front seats are the new 8-Way Power Sports, the lumbar and side supports of which are electrically powered.
  3. Engine
The engine is the newly developed 2,954cc 7M Twin-Cam Turbo (7M-GTEU), a twin-cam, turbocharged 6-cylinder power plant with an air-cooled intercooler. Combined with the high-precision Karman Vortex airflow meter, this powerful engine delivers a maximum output of 230 ps at 5,600 rpm (net), and maximum torque of 33.0 kg-m at 4,000 rpm (net).
    Also available for the Supra is the 1G Twin-Cam 24 Twin-Turbo (1G-GTEU), a 1,988cc, twin-cam, turbocharged 6-cylinder engine with twin turbochargers and air-cooled intercoolers.
  4. Chassis-Suspension
All grades of the Supra are provided with a standard four-wheel double-wishbone suspension, which gives designers a high degree of freedom to control the wheels' camber, tread, caster and toe characteristics.
In addition, the upper arms of the front and rear suspension are of forged aluminum which reduces weight. The newly developed ball bushes of the suspension cut down friction and help increase rigidity. All the suspension links are joined to the subframe to reduce vibration and noise while providing precise control.
  5. Chassis-Brakes and Steering
The Supra is equipped with standard four-wheel disk brakes.
The front disks are ventilated on all grades, while the rear disks are ventilated only on higher grades.
The anti-lock brake system is available as an option for the 3.0 GT Turbo. In this system, a microcomputer controls braking and prevents locking of the wheels. This improves the vehicle's stability and helps the driver keep the car under control when braking suddenly on a slippery road.
Precise steering is accomplished by adoption of rack-and-pinion steering which responds readily to the driver's every command. With changes in the gear ratio, the Supra delivers responsive steering to suit all drivers.
  6. Other new features
Many other new features are incorporated in the Supra, including the easy-to-read Panoramic Digital Meter, electrically-powered retractable door mirrors, and lamp auto-cut system.
