Toyota Revises Its Guiding Principles
Tokyo―TOYOTA MOTOR CORPORATION announced today that it has revised its Guiding Principles for the first time since they were originally drawn up in January of 1992.
Ever since its establishment, Toyota has been committed to enhancing the quality of life worldwide by providing useful and appealing products. At a time when the business environment was changing rapidly, Toyota felt it especially important to act with a clear vision guided by strong, determined principles. In January of 1992, Toyota drew up the Guiding Principles, which is comprised of seven items.
The spirit of Toyota is such that it strives to become a truly international corporation and a good corporate citizen that puts people, society, and the environment first and foremost.
Toyota's global business has expanded in the five years since the establishment of its Guiding Principles, accompanied with a greater responsibility and a larger role for Toyota in the international community. Along with this globalization of corporate activities, Toyota decided to revise its Guiding Principles. The revisions give further clarity to the previous principles.
At Toyota, the Guiding Principles will continue to be a guideline shared by Toyota management and employees alike. Toyota hopes to continue to take on new challenges, aiming for harmonious growth in the coming twenty-first century.
