Toyota Tianjin Subsidiary Holds Line-off Ceremony

Tokyo―TOYOTA MOTOR CORPORATION (TMC) announced today that Tianjin Toyota Forging Co., Ltd. (TTFC) held a line-off ceremony on January 29 regarding semi-finished forging for constant-velocity joints. The ceremony took place within the plant of TTFC, with attendance of many guests from the government of Tianjin.

At the line-off ceremony, TTFC Chairman Kosuke Ikebuchi expressed his gratitude to the support from the government of Tianjin and related people of Tianjin Automotive Industrial (Group) Co., Ltd. (TAI). In particular, he stressed the speed at which TTFC had been able to start production―only two years after its establishment in 1997.

TTFC is Toyota's first wholly owned subsidiary for producing automobile parts in China. It was established in the city of Tianjin, China in February 1997, and it is regarded as a model case of Toyota plants in China.

According to plans, TTFC will produce semi-finished forging sufficient for 200,000 cars a year. This forging will undergo final machining and assembly at Tianjin Fengjin Auto Parts Co., Ltd. (TFAP), which is engaged in producing constant-velocity joints for Tianjin's Charade, a small car produced and marketed in China by TAI. This forging will also be exported to Toyota Auto Parts Philippines Inc. (TAP), Toyota's subsidiary in the Philippines.
