Toyota Presents the Yaris Concept Car at Geneva Motor Show
Also Gives a Sneak Peak at the New Lexus IS 200 Sedan
Tokyo―TOYOTA MOTOR CORPORATION (TMC) announced that it today presented the Yaris at the Geneva Motor Show (March 3 to 15, with media days March 3 to 4). The Yaris is TMC's concept for a new small-low-class passenger vehicle scheduled to be marketed in Europe in 1999. TMC also announced that sales of its new Lexus IS 200 sedan model would start in Europe in early 1999.
The Yaris represents the next generation of basic compact cars, featuring a spacious interior in a "short & tall" compact body with an unconventional exterior design. It is powered by a newly developed 1.0-liter gasoline engine with VVT-i valve timing technology to ensure high performance and low fuel consumption.
The Lexus IS 200, with its dynamic, powerful and compact design, has a spacious interior unequaled in its class. An in-line 6-cylinder 2.0-liter gasoline engine using VVT-i technology anchors the FR powertrain to guarantee superior performance for this sporty new sedan.
