The all-new 6th generation RAV4 is an SUV built on the idea that "Life is an Adventure," embodying a go-anywhere, do-anything spirit. While maintaining the RAV4's signature solid and powerful design and packaging, it has been developed around the keywords Diversification, Electrification, and Intelligence.

Under Diversification, three distinct styles are offered: the sophisticatedly styled Z, the Adventure model that can also handle off-road driving, and the GR SPORT (scheduled for release within fiscal 2025, ending March 2026), which is focused on driving performance.
Under Electrification, the lineup includes both a hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) and a newly developed plug-in hybrid system (PHEV, scheduled for release within fiscal 2025), delivering the seamless acceleration and powerful performance unique to electrified vehicles.
Under Intelligence, leveraging the software development platform Arene for the first time has shortened the development period for crucial UI software such as the advanced safety and security package Toyota Safety Sense and the cockpit systems, enabling these features to be installed more quickly into the vehicle. This allows us to provide a safer, more secure, and more comfortable mobility experience to customers.
Moving forward, we aim for further evolution, including enabling simultaneous updates of multiple functions.

The RAV4 was born in 1994 as a pioneer of a new SUV genre, designed to be enjoyable for both outdoor adventures and city driving, at a time when SUVs were primarily considered off-road vehicles. Over its nearly 30-year history, it has been loved by many customers worldwide by adapting to diverse lifestyles in tune with the times. With this latest evolution, the RAV4 will continue to be a beloved SUV around the world, staying closely attuned to each customer's lifestyle.

Vehicle Outline

  1. Powerful and refined design with three styles symbolizing diversification

Exterior design evoking refined dynamism

The design is based on three key elements: Big Foot, emphasizing large-diameter tires for the firmly planted stance of an SUV; Lift-up, evoking nimble off-road performance; and Utility, ensuring an easy-to-use cargo space capable of handling anything. Together, these three elements capture the RAV4's sense of being able to go anywhere.

Interior that meets the needs of the driver

The new RAV4 adopts an island architecture in which various functions such as displays and shifts are grouped together and arranged like islands. In addition to a horizontal instrument panel that makes the vehicle's SUV-like sense of balance easy to grasp, this architecture offers improved usability by arranging the navigation system, meters, and other elements in such a way that minimizes eye movement, and the air conditioning vents are positioned to be instantly reachable. Furthermore, the following advanced equipment―a first for Toyota―has been installed to enhance visibility and operability.

RAV4
  • Color heads up display: Angled display. A Toyota first*1
Updated graphics; three display modes (Full / Standard / Minimum) that let drivers adjust information volume to their preference; and a shift from the conventional upright display to a perspective-enhanced angled display―all have improved information recognition.
RAV4
  • Electro-Shiftmatic: One-direction shift-operation system. A Toyota first*1
The system achieves single-action intuitive shift operation and a clean cockpit design. It also integrates the gearshift lever, electric parking brake, and brake hold switch into a functional cluster that minimizes driver operations and eye movement while driving.

Three distinct grades are available: Z, Adventure, and GR SPORT (scheduled for launch within FY2026)

  • Z grade: Captivating with a refined front appearance
The front adopts a solid hammerhead design for a powerful presence. Body-colored bumpers and a mesh grille are joined by inner grille accents that create an advanced, three-dimensional look. The rear features a seamless design integrating the rear door window glass and lights, underscoring a wide and refined presence.

A package that inherits "RAV4-ness"

Focusing on everyday usability, the vehicle size remains the same at 4,600 mm in length, 1,855 mm in width, and 1,680 mm*2 in height, while achieving an optimized interior space that is easy to use.

  • Versatile luggage space for all shapes and sizes
The trunk capacity has been expanded to 749 L*3.
Reducing the slope of the floor when the rear seatbacks are folded has resulted in a flatter cargo area, making it easier to load long items.
RAV4
*2 Dimensions for the Z grade. Adventure grade: 4,620 mm (length), 1,880 mm (width), 1,680 mm (height)
*3 Based on VDA measurement method; 16 L larger than the previous G grade's 733 L

  1. New-generation hybrid system for powerful and stable driving performance

The highly efficient 2.5-liter inline 4-cylinder engine and outstanding motor output deliver powerful dynamic performance with a maximum system output of 177 kW (240 hp). In addition, E-Four (electric 4WD) precisely controls front/rear driving force distribution between 100:0 and 20:80, achieving high levels of acceleration from start and cornering stability. Furthermore, it comes equipped with TRAIL and SNOW driving control modes, which deliver superior escape and stability on rough or snowy roads by applying brakes to spinning wheels and redirecting drive torque to the opposite wheels.

RAV4

The new RAV4 also provides a premium driving experience in terms of ride comfort through an improved platform and newly adopted shock absorbers.

  1. Evolved safety and advanced functionality through intelligence technology

The advanced Toyota Safety Sense and critical UI (user interface) software, such as the cockpit, utilize the Arene platform. In the future, this is expected to enable simultaneous updates of multiple functions as well as customization tailored to each individual customer.
As the starting point of Toyota's Software-Defined Vehicle (SDV) initiative, the RAV4 will continue to leverage Arene to quickly develop various functions and services that reflect the diverse needs of each region. This will allow Toyota to provide safe, secure, and comfortable mobility experiences rooted in local communities and tailored to countries and regions.

Evolved Toyota Safety Sense. A Toyota first*4

Arene was utilized in development for software evaluation, software component modularization, as well as to enhance image recognition and automatic braking control software. Additionally, evolving camera and radar performance has further expanded detection range and distance.

  • Expanded operational range for broader collision avoidance support
Pre-collision Safety now detects deceleration of preceding vehicles more quickly, while also detecting vehicles emerging from behind other cars when entering intersections, thereby enabling operation across a broader range of scenarios. Furthermore, the low-speed Acceleration Suppression Function has evolved to work not only when driving straight, but also while turning.
RAV4
  • Enhanced recognition capability for smoother following
Radar Cruise Control now recognizes surrounding vehicles earlier than before, improving its ability to detect merging vehicles at close range during low-speed driving and to detect their turn signals earlier.
RAV4
  • Shoulder stop function added to driver emergency response system*5
If a driver emergency is detected, the system issues warnings prompting the driver to take action. It also alerts others of the emergency via hazard lights while slowing and stopping the vehicle within its lane or on the shoulder, helping to avoid injury to the driver or others and reduce accident damage.

Panoramic View Monitor with 3D View. A Toyota first*4

Swiping on the display audio screen allows users to check the vehicle's surroundings from their preferred viewpoint.

New-generation multimedia

  • 12.9-inch display audio. A Toyota first*4
A center display with a large touch panel comes standard on all models.
The display features enhanced, rich graphics and customizable views tailored to the user's preferences, enabling more intuitive operation.
  • Improved voice recognition response speed for comfortable operation while driving
With response speeds approximately three times faster than before, the system responds within about one second after the user speaks, enabling more comfortable operation of the navigation and air conditioning even while driving.
*4 As of December 2025 according to Toyota Motor Corporation research
*5 Manufacturer option for the Z grade; requires a Connected Navigation contract for use.
