Toyota Increases France Plant Production Capacity
Tokyo ― TOYOTA MOTOR CORPORATION (TMC) today announced that, from early 2006, Toyota Motor Manufacturing France (TMMF) would increase the production of the Yaris compact vehicle at its plant in Valenciennes, France, from a maximum capacity of 240,000 units per year to a maximum capacity of 270,000 units, in response to rising demand.
In line with the production capacity increase, and to support the production of the next-generation Toyota Yaris (made and sold in Japan as the Vitz), Toyota will be investing approximately 110 million euros more in the Valenciennes plant, which will also hire an additional 1,000 employees in order to meet the new production capacity. TMMF currently employs approximately 2,800 people.
The Valenciennes plant is located in the north of France and has been making the Yaris since January 2001. The plant also assembles diesel and petrol engines for the Yaris.
