TMC to Hold 2010 Toyota Master Players Concert Series
―Series Features Special Program for Youth―
Tokyo―TOYOTA MOTOR CORPORATION (TMC) announces that, as part of its social contribution activities in support of the arts and culture, it will hold a series of classical-music concerts featuring 30 leading musicians selected from the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra and the Vienna State Opera Orchestra. The "Toyota Master Players" concerts will be held in five cities throughout Japan, between April 2 and April 7, 2010, with tickets to go on sale nationwide through Cnplayguide and other ticket agencies on Saturday, December 5, 2009.
The Toyota Master Players series has enjoyed the special cooperation of the Vienna State Opera since the series' inauguration in 2000, with the upcoming series being the ninth. Tickets are priced reasonably to give many people the opportunity to appreciate world-class music performances.
The five scheduled concerts comprise four Wien Premium Concerts, featuring the "Toyota Master Players, Wien", in Sapporo, Sendai, Tokyo and Fukuoka and a Wien Grand Concert in Nagoya with the Nagoya Philharmonic Orchestra.
The Wien Premium Concerts will include well-known pieces such as Beethoven's Symphony No. 4, Mozart's Violin Concerto No. 5 in A Major and Oboe Concerto in C Major, all performed without a conductor. The Wien Grand Concert, meanwhile, will present famous pieces from Schumann and Nicolai, in part to mark the 200th anniversary their births. The Wien Grand Concert will also present Bruckner's Symphony No. 7, conducted by Tadaaki Otaka.
Soloists will include musicians from the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, as well as Japanese soprano Hiroko Kouda and pianist Kei Itoh.
Information regarding tickets and concert content is available from the Toyota Master Players Secretariat at 03-5210-7555.
Additionally, a special program aimed at developing musical appreciation among youth will run throughout the series, with youths encouraged to apply for complimentary tickets to the concerts and public rehearsals (April 2, Nagoya; April 3, Sendai; April 5, Fukuoka). There will also be separate concerts at elementary schools and child welfare facilities (April 8, Tokyo; April 10, Nagoya).
