Thai IMV Exports Hit 1 Million

 

Toyota City, Japan, July 1―Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) announces that cumulative exports of its IMV1 series2 of vehicles made in Thailand have reached 1 million units.  Toyota Motor Thailand Co., Ltd., which produces IMVs for sale in 109 markets around the world, marked the milestone in a ceremony today in Chonburi Province, Thailand, from where the vehicles are shipped overseas.

The IMV project seeks to create global, optimal production and supply systems premised on globally introducing IMVs into markets in more than 140 countries and regions.  Starting with production of the "Hilux" pickup truck in Thailand in August 2004, the project currently sees approximately 580,000 vehicles produced annually in 11 locations3 outside Japan, including South Africa and Argentina.

TMC will continue to use optimal supply systems to provide vehicles that meet by-market needs around the world.
