SEVEN MILLION COROLLAS PRODUCED

TOKYO―According to totals compiled by Toyota Motor Company Ltd. and Toyota Motor Sales Company Ltd., the Corolla model series―Toyota's all-time top selling vehicle―passed the seven-million-unit cumulative production mark at the end of January.

Corolla production figures at the end of 1978 stood at 6,951,238 units, but last month 50,000 more of the cars rolled off the production lines, pushing the cumulative number of Corollas produced to the seven-million-plus mark.

The Corolla was designed by Toyota to serve Japan and the global motoring world as a fine, reliable family car. It was first marketed in October 1966. The present model is the third generation in the series. The Corolla has chalked up an outstanding record as the No.1 car in sales in Japan for 10 years straight, starting in 1969, and the three-million-unit export mark was achieved in October 1978. The Corolla has deservedly earned praise both in Japan and abroad as a passenger car of quality, bearing proudly through the past 13 years the name and reputation for automotive excellence of Toyota.
