Toyota China Begins Trial Leasing of Vehicles Specially
Equipped for Disabled and Elderly
Toyota City, Japan, May 16, 2013―Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) announces that its administrative and sales subsidiary in China, Toyota Motor (China) Investment Co., Ltd. (TMCI), will lease vehicles equipped with special features for the disabled and elderly on a trial basis in Shanghai and Beijing starting in June 2013 for approximately 18 months. The aim of the trial leases is to facilitate the possibility of China market introduction of the models in the near future.
A total of five specially equipped "Alphard" and "Hiace" vans will be leased free of charge to the Shanghai Civil Affairs Bureau and Riei (Beijing) Co., Ltd.* The vehicles will be used to transport users of adult day-care services, so that the vehicles' usefulness, as well as the need for these kinds of vehicles in China, can be evaluated.
TMC will also display the specially equipped vehicles at the China International Exhibition of Rehabilitation, Nursing & Healthcare to be held in Shanghai from May 16 through May 18. TMC will use the exhibition to provide information on safe and comfortable mobility, not only to senior citizens and others who require extra support, but also to caregivers.
TMC aims to be a good corporate citizen and plans to continue contributing to the building of better communities in accordance with its founding philosophy of contributing to society through the manufacture of automobiles.
