TOYOTA DECEMBER PRODUCTION RISES SLIGHTLY
Total 1974 Output Decreased 8.4% From Previous Year
TOKYO―During December 1974, Toyota Motor Company produced a total of 181,191 vehicles, a 6.6% increase over the same month of last year.
Toyota's total new car registrations during December amounted to 158,271, an increase of 54.5% over the previous year.
A total of 78,277 units were exported during December 1974, a 5.9% increase from a year ago.
Cumulative Toyota production for 1974 amounted to 2,114,980 units, down 8.4% from the previous year.
From January to December 1974, cumulative new car registrations numbered 1,256,363, down 19% from the previous year. The company's share of total cumulative new car registrations for 1974 was 32.9%, a slight increase over the 31.6% share for the previous year.
Toyota's cumulative export figure for 1974 of 856,265 vehicles was 18.8% higher than the previous year.
Cumulative import car registrations for 1974 numbered 39,666 units, up 23.4% over the previous year's figure of 32,156 units.

PRODUCTION
The 181,191 units produced by Toyota in December 1974 was a 6.6% increase over the figure recorded for the same month of last year.
A breakdown by vehicle category shows that 135,099 passenger cars, 44,956 trucks and 1,136 buses were produced during the month, and passenger cars accounted for 74.6% of total December production.
The company's cumulative production for 1974 amounted to 2,114,980 units, down 8.4% from the previous year. A half-year breakdown of total production figures indicates that 994,000 units were produced during the first half of the year (16.2% down from the same period of the previous year), while 1,121,000 units rolled off the assembly lines in the second half of the year (a decrease of 0.1% from the corresponding period of the year before).
A breakdown of cumulative 1974 production indicates that 1,484,737 passenger cars, 615,535 trucks and 14,708 buses were produced. Passenger cars made up 70.2% of total 9.4 production.
REGISTRATION
According to figures compiled by Toyota Motor Sales Co., Toyota -car registrations during December 1974 numbered 158,271 units, a 54.5% increase over the same month of the previous year.
During December there was a total of 343,193 new vehicles registered domestically.
In December, Toyota set four new registration records: Crown 11,066 (against 10 622 in March 1971); Corona 21 092 (against 17,719 in Oct. 1974); Corolla 40,608 (against 35,721 in July 1974); and Sprinter 15,145 (against 13,177 in July 1974).
Cumulative Toyota car registrations for 1974 amounted to 1,256,363 units, a 1% decrease from the previous year. The company's share of total cumulative new car registrations for 1974 was 32.9%, which compares to 31.6% for the previous year. The 742,000 Toyota car registrations during the second half of the year was a 44.4% increase over the 514,000 units recorded during the first half.
Cumulative Japanese domestic vehicle registrations for 1974 amounted to 3,822,002 units, a 22.2% decrease from the previous year.
EXPORTS
Toyota Motor Sales Company exported 78,277 units in December, a 5.9% increase over the same month of the previous year.
Passenger cars accounted for 70.7% (55,339 units) of Toyota's total exports for the month. Of the total passenger car exports in December, Corolla was the best seller with 31,126 units, followed by Corona with 10,663 units, and Celica with 7,966.
The company's cumulative exports for 1974 amounted to 856,265 vehicles, an 18.8% increase over the previous year.
