Toyota City―A Toyota Supra Twin-Cam 24 took overall honors' in the Hong Kong-Beijing Rally on September 18, 1987. The car, entered by Toyota Team Europe (TTE) and supported by TOYOTA MOTOR CORPORATION, was one of two TTE Supras in the event.
The 1987 Hong Kong-Beijing Rally ran six days (September 13-18). Contestants started under fair skies but encountered considerable rain during the approximately 3,900-kilometer event. The winning Supra, driven by Bjoern Waldegaard and wearing number 2, was the second car off the line and took early lead of the rally.

Torrential rains in the third day of the rally led to the retirement of such veteran drivers as Ford's Vatanen and Nissan's Eklund.
Toyota and Ford jockeyed for the lead until the very last moment. Driving on roads as slick as ball bearings, Ford's Blomqvist was leading Toyota's Waldegaard by 16 seconds. Waldegaard, however, put in a world champion performance as he zoomed through the night-time stage of the last day to overtake Blomqvist and a Nissan car to win the event in an unusually close finish.
The second Supra Twin-Cam 24 retired with differential trouble on the first leg.
The TTE Supra Twin-Cam 24 cars debuted in the 1987 Safari Rally and have made respectable showings in a number of WRC rallies.
