World-Class Safety Features

Active Safety
  1. Wide field of vision and clear instrumentation layout improve the driver's awareness of driving conditions.
  2. Standard anti-lock brake system (ABS) provides good stability and directional control when braking on slippery road surfaces or in emergency situations.
  3. Side mirrors are specially curved to provide a better downward view (except on HiAce Regius E).
  4. The GPS voice navigation system can also display images taken from a rear-mounted camera when backing up. Sonars mounted around the vehicle use audio and video signals to warn against clearance problems (available as options on some grades).
Passive safety
  1. The Global Outstanding Assessment (GOA) impact-absorbing body and high-rigidity reinforced cabin design meet Toyota's own stringent collision protection standards, exceeding Japanese and European requirements.
  2. Dual supplemental restraint system (SRS) front airbags are standard on all models.
  3. In frontal collisions, pretensioners immediately roll in seatbelt slack, securing the passenger in place. Once a specified seatbelt force level is reached, force-limiters prevent a further increase in pressure on the passenger's chest. These are standard in the driver and front passenger seat of all models.
  4. Built-in child seat in the right-hand second-row seat (available as an option in some grades).
  5. Seatbelts that accommodate child seats in the second row of seats are standard on all models.

Comfort and Quietness of a Luxury Car

Engine

Toyota offers a choice between a high-output, clean-running 3.0-liter turbo-diesel (1KZ-TE) and a 2.7-liter, twincam, 16-valve gasoline engine (3RZ-FE), both of which provide the smooth performance expected of a luxury vehicle.

*Constant 60km/h

Chassis
  1. Four-wheel independent suspension, a long wheelbase, and front and rear stabilizers give responsive, solid handling and an extremely smooth ride.
  2. Four-wheel disk brakes provide superior braking power.
Noise suppression
  1. With the engine distantly mounted from the cabin, reinforced frame construction, and vibration/sound-dampening materials, the HiAce Regius has a quiet interior on par with luxury sedans.
  2. Both gasoline and diesel engines include balance-shafts for smooth running.

Designed for the Environment

Low fuel consumption
  1. Both the 3.0-liter turbo-diesel and the 2.7-liter gasoline engine are very fuel efficient.
  2. The high-efficiency drivetrain includes the super flow torque converter.
Designed for easy recycling
  1. The dashboard and ventilation ducts are all made using the same type of plastic resin, and are joined by using vibration-welding rather than screws.
  2. Extensive use of Toyota Super-Olefin Polymer (a readily-recycled thermosetting plastic) for exterior parts such as bumpers, and interior parts such as quarter trim. Painted bumpers recovered in the factory or from scrapped vehicles are recycled and reused as underside engine covers.

Commercial Van Overview

Space utilization
  1. A fold-down passenger's seat and fold-up rear seats make it possible to accommodate very long items. (Optional on commercial models)
  2. A removable rear seat provides for maximum cargo capacity.
  3. By employing four-wheel independent suspension, the floor has been lowered, allowing easier loading of cargo.
Economical and environmentally friendly

Both the clean-burning 3.0-liter diesel (5L), which complies with the latest emissions regulations, and the 2.0-liter gasoline engine (1RZ-E) provide excellent fuel efficiency.

Safety
  1. The GOA design featuring an impact-absorbing body with strengthened cabin offers excellent collision protection.
  2. Dual SRS airbags and seatbelts with pretensioners and force-limiters are available as options on all grades.
  3. ABS brakes are standard on some grades.
  4. The commercial van's braking system meets recently strengthened braking performance regulations.
