Toyota 2000GT "Bond car" (1966, Japan) |
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the launch of the 2000GT. This particular vehicle was one of two created for the film You Only Live Twice, which was released in 1967. Through the film, the 2000GT altered the perception of Japanese cars which until then had largely been seen only as vehicles for practical use. It showed the world that Japan was developing into an industrial nation. |
Nissan Silvia CSP311 (1966, Japan) |
The Nissan Silvia, which combined the Datsun Fairlady chassis with a newly developed 1,600 cc engine, was launched in 1965. With its joint-free body panels and highly refined character lines cut with jewel-like precision, the car was nicknamed the "Crisp Cut." |
