OUTLOOK FOR 1978
Toyota has set an overall sales goal of 2,860,000 motor vehicles for 1978. The domestic sales target is 1,430,000 units, up 10% from 1977, because of expectations of expanding domestic demand due to the Japanese government's policy of adopting measures to stimulate the economy. For exports, meanwhile, the overseas environment is becoming increasingly severe and it is impossible to expect large growth, although growth is expected in the Arab oil-producing nations and in the countries of Southeast Asia. The total goal for exports in 1978 is thus 1,430,000 units, slightly above the actual 1977 figure.
