Toyota Increases Ownership of Daihatsu
Tokyo―TOYOTA MOTOR CORPORATION (TMC) announced today that it has bought an additional 71.15 million shares in Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd. (Daihatsu). Toyota has had a business tie-up with Daihatsu since 1967.
The objective of this purchase is to achieve mutual growth through strengthened relationships between Toyota and Daihatsu, while maintaining the independence of the management and responsibilities of the respective companies.
With this acquisition, Toyota increased its Daihatsu shares from 71.626 million (16.8% of the issued shares) to 142.776 million shares (33.4% of the issued shares).
