Renovated ROOKIE CAFE Reopens at Mega Web

Toyota City, Japan, April 11, 2019―Toyota Motor Corporation (Toyota) announces today that ROOKIE CAFE, the second-floor cafe within the Tokyo Odaiba waterfront hands-on "mobility" theme park Mega Web, will reopen on Friday, April 19 following renovation. The new-look cafe has a Northern European-inspired interior, and offers food and drink made with meticulously selected ingredients.

Featuring racing cars that have revved their engines in real races, the cafe includes three distinct areas that appeal to the general public and car fans of all ages.

In the center of the space, white tables and shelves create the route of the 24 Hours Nürburgring race in Germany, which Toyota's own racing team, TOYOTA GAZOO Racing, has been burning rubber in since 2007. Spare parts for racing cars, miniature cars, goods only available from Nürburgring, and many other unique items lavishly adorn the space.

The cafe offers home-made dishes that fuse German and Japanese cooking, evoking hints of nostalgia. Balancing carefully selected ingredients, the lunch plates are both pleasing to the eye and fortifying, featuring a variety of main dishes with your choice of vegetables. (Lunchtime only. First come, first served.) Children will love the Car Plate!

Desserts and drinks are crafted under the direction of Balloom Tokyo, a stand-alone restaurant in Ebisu, Tokyo, run by Yamamoto Tofu, a tried-and-tested Okayama Prefecture-based store trading for 78 years. Fastidiously selected organic coffees and teas, as well as soy milk, soy smoothies, and delicately sweet okara doughnuts and soy brownies (gluten-free)―all made from Japan-grown soy beans with the quality expected of a specialist tofu shop―are the health-conscientious menu's "cherries on the cake."
