Toyota Introduces Five-Door RAV4 L and RAV4 J Models

Tokyo―TOYOTA MOTOR CORPORATION announced today that it has launched the RAV4 L V ("V" = Five) and RAV4 J V models, the new five-door versions of the RAV4. The RAV4 L V is available through Toyota Corolla dealers, and the RAV4 J V through Toyota Auto dealers, nationwide.

The new five-door, five-seat cars have been introduced to broaden the versatility in motoring lifestyle that the RAV4 L and RAV4 J have offered since their introduction last May to much customer acclaim. Changes in equipment for the three-door Type-E models have been introduced simultaneously.

The sales target of the five-door versions is 3,000 units per month.

Description of the Five-Door RAV4

Exterior

While retaining the bold curves and personalized lines of the three-door version, the five-door RAV4 model is 410mm longer, creating a style that is even more dynamic and fluid.

In addition to the four body colors available for the three-door models, light aqua-metallic opal (blue) has been added as a standard color. Warm gray-pearl mica (white) is also available as an option.

To provide greater functionality, optional tilt-and-slide moon roofs are available for all five-door RAV4 models.

Interior

A longer body results in an increased luggage capacity to 645 liters (VDA standard) with the rear seats folded forward, suitable for holding large items such as camping gear. The wheel arches have been positioned further back, thus creating ample space for three adults in the rear seats. The seats are upholstered with a sporty fabric used only in the five-door versions, and a stylish, net-type back pocket is fitted to the front seats. The interior is finished in a relaxing blue-gray color.

Engine

The engine is the same two-liter twin-cam 3S-FE engine as in the three-door version, an engine that excels both in fuel efficiency and running performance.

Options

Dealer options include the newly developed voice navigation system with voice guidance and automatic route selection. Exterior options available include front and rear spoilers, large fog lamps, and other items to satisfy customer preferences for model customizing.

The more affordable Type-E model is available in both three-door and five-door versions, and comes with essential equipment only.
