Toyota to Begin Trial Marketing in
the Republic of Korea
Tokyo―TOYOTA MOTOR CORPORATION (TMC) announced today that, because of the liberalization and growth potential of the automobile market in the Republic of Korea, it will begin selling its American-built Avalon sedan there on a trial basis. Trial marketing of the Avalon, which is manufactured by Toyota Motor Manufacturing, U.S.A., Inc., will take place over a one-year period, with a sales target of 40 to 50 units per month.
Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A., Inc. will export the cars from the U.S., and Seoul-based Inchcape Korea Limited and Jinse Trading Co., Ltd. will import and market the cars in the Republic of Korea. Inchcape Korea and Jinse Trading Co. will open one Avalon sales outlet each in Seoul on June 13 and 14, respectively.
After-sales service will be commissioned through the two companies' service centers. To ensure full provision of quality after-sales services, TMC will lend direct support to the service centers by dispatching instructors and providing machinery and equipment.
