Tokyo―TOYOTA MOTOR CORPORATION (TMC) announced it will begin exporting its flagship Century Saloon model limousine to Europe and Asia, beginning next month.
The Century was first released in 1967 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Toyota Group founder Sakichi Toyoda's birth. Since its introduction more than three decades ago, the Century has received high acclaim from executives in various fields as Japan's representative formal luxury sedan.
The export model Century Saloon retains the many features of its domestic counterpart, including powerful V-12 engine, supplemental restraint system (6SRS) with dual front seat airbags and four side airbags, and the technological excellence cultivated by TMC over the past 60 years.
Yet customers in Europe and Asia can expect even more from Toyota's export flagship model, such as left-hand steering, increased maximum engine output of 300PS, and improved suspension performance at vehicle speeds that can reach as high as 250km/h.
TMC expects to sell about 30 units per year of the export model Century Saloon, for use mainly as executive cars by company and government officials in various countries.
