Toyota to Exhibit at 41st International Home Care and Rehabilitation Show in Tokyo'Welchair' to Be Unveiled Ahead of Launch This Year

Toyota City, Japan, September 22, 2014―Toyota Motor Corporation is to exhibit at the 41st International Home Care and Rehabilitation Exhibition (H.C.R.), to be held at the Tokyo International Exhibition Center from October 1 through 3. The H.C.R. event is the largest trade show of its kind in Japan. Toyota will be displaying its specially equipped "Welcab" series of vehicles as well as the "Welchair", a Toyota-developed wheelchair scheduled for release within the year.

The Welchair was designed in response to vehicle transport issues commonly experienced by people in wheelchairs while riding in vehicles, such as excessive height, upper/lower body instability, and difficulties with seatbelt securement.

Toyota will be exhibiting a total of nine vehicles from the Welcab series, with the focus on the "Voxy" and "Noah" minivans released earlier this year. Also on show will be the wheelchair-adapted "Hiace" commercial van, the "Porte" multipurpose vehicle with its Lift-up Front Passenger Seat, and the new wheelchair-adapted "Ractis", a multipurpose vehicle with a recently revamped exterior.

Official Toyota accessories designed to facilitate easier car transportation of dogs will also be exhibited at the show.
