As the first model for the bZ series, I took on the challenge of designing something completely new. Our global team approached development as an effort to create unprecedented character and an advanced feel. The result is very much a Toyota-worthy BEV. She's full of possibilities to create exciting new experiences. Please come and meet her!

As an answer to the needs of a new era, the design of this new genre SUV, with its low center of gravity, is based on an innovative BEV underbody structure. Teams in design, aerodynamics, engineering, manufacturing and suppliers came together in a relationship of trust and shared adventure to create a car of the future. This is the bZ series' first big step. Go beyond zero! (^^)v

I combined geometric lines with emotionally resonant surfaces to create contrast and express the design theme "hi-tech and emotion." I wanted to take advantage of the BEV's long wheelbase and its tires spread out to the four corners along with the front and rear fenders and the arch moldings to create a flowing sensation and strong stance.

How should a "BEV face" look? Thinking it through, I decided to balance the tough feel of an SUV with the clean image of a BEV. I gave my all for this car, from striving to find the optimal positioning of functional parts to meticulously working out the details. I hope you have fun with it.

I have a passion for product design, including cars. For this project, all our team members were able to try new things without holding back. How should a car interior be for the next generation? How is the human/car relationship going to evolve? I hope our answers resonate with drivers.

I was able to push myself to create a new interior environment thanks to an all new BEV platform. By clearing out the immediate front space to the absolute maximum, visually expanding the footwell to the limit, and adopting top-mounted meters at a distance that reduces the need to refocus, I'm confident that the interior environment of this uniquely Toyota BEV will bring about new mobility experiences.

"What sort of experiences can we have with this car?" We started by discussing this viewpoint from various aspects, and eventually fell on something tangible. I'd be happy if both drivers and front and rear passengers would all be able to experience the real difference.

Even if you're not interested in cars, it has a style of its own that makes you think it's innovative and cool. From the moment you sit down, there's something warmly familiar about it that gives you a sense of comfort. My intention was to express this through the accent colors in precious metal and the use of fabric on the dashboard. It's a riding experience that will make you want to go places, which I hope will lead to many new experiences.
